Quarantine Quilts
During the initial part of shelter-in-place due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, there was pressure to produce more, do more, create more relevant, important art. At first everything about the quarantine felt overwhelming, so I attempted to simplify my process and focus on documenting the time in ways that involved simple, detailed, repetitive tasks. I converted my dining room into a temporary studio and I restricted myself to materials I had on hand. As a result, I began constructing paper quilts from my antique paper collection; cutting and sewing rectangular shapes together with cotton thread on the sewing machine.
